Pochettino gives Chelsea team news for Fulham trip<\/h3>\n

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he can\u2019t replace captain Reece James and vice-captain Ben Chilwell when the players are injured. James has been out with a hamstring injury since August, with Chilwell hobbling off with the same issue during the closing stages of the Blues\u2019 1-0 victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn all the clubs, important players you always miss when they don\u2019t play,\u201d Pochettino told reporters on Friday ahead of Chelsea\u2019s Premier League trip to Fulham on Monday night. \u201cOf course we always miss top players. When they are at their best, of course they are some of the best in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the team, we miss some important players. There\u2019s only one Reece James and one Ben Chilwell. The club tried with Malo Gusto, Marc Cucurella and Levi [Colwill,] can play there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chilwell is expected to be out of action for four weeks following his latest injury set-back, with Pochettino adding: \u201cBad news. The doctor said not a good thing, need to assess. But it doesn\u2019t look good. It\u2019s difficult to know now [how long he will be out for].\u201d<\/p>\n

James, meanwhile, could be available for selection in the coming weeks after returning to the training pitch following his hamstring problem. But he could first be forced to accept an FA ban after he reportedly confronted referee Jarred Gillett in the Stamford Bridge tunnel following Chelsea\u2019s loss to Aston Villa last weekend.<\/p>\n

And in Pochettino\u2019s latest update about the England right-back, he said: \u201cHe’s recovering well. I don’t know if he’s close or not because we assess him every single day but he’s started to do things on the pitch with the ball. He’s really well. He’s desperate to play for the team. Yes, I hope it’s close.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chelsea have suffered a dismal start to the Premier League season, despite shelling out prodigious sums of cash once again in the summer to bring in a whole host of new players. The Blues have spent nearly \u00a31billion since Todd Boehly bought the club from Roman Abramovich at the end of last May but have suffered a downturn of form since Thomas Tuchel was dismissed last September.<\/p>\n

The Blues\u2019 3-0 victory over Luton in August remains their only league win of the season, with the side dropping to 14th in the table after already losing three matches. And on Monday, they will travel to Craven Cottage three points adrift of their west London rivals.<\/p>\n
