Kate Abdo left Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards shocked after revealing her first ever job was at Greggs.<\/p>\n

The football presenter was covering Newcastle United\u2019s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain for CBS Sports alongside Carragher, Richards and Anita Jones on Wednesday night. Abdo, 42, has become one of the most well-known football hosts on television – but revealed her life wasn\u2019t always so glamorous. <\/p>\n

The subject of Tyneside bakery turned countrywide food chain Greggs was raised – and Abdo sought to explain the concept to American viewers of the \u2018Golazo\u2019 show by calling it an \u201cEnglish tradition\u201d and a \u201cstaple\u201d.<\/p>\n

She then lifted the lid on her previous career, having worked behind the counter at one of the UK\u2019s favourite fast food places. \u201c[I used to work at] Greggs in Stretford," she said. "I wasn\u2019t dripping in Louis Vuitton so much back then – It was my first job."<\/p>\n

The revelation astonished her colleagues as Carragher yelled out: \u201cYou used to work for Greggs?!\u201d A photoshopped image of her wearing the Greggs uniform then popped up on screen, prompting Abdo to quip: \u201cMy breasts have never been that big."<\/p>\n

Yet it was the reason for her dismissal that caused the biggest ruckus, saying: \u201cI got fired. I got my tongue pierced and I couldn\u2019t speak to people properly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The revelation left Carragher and Richards in stitches. And a stunned Richards replied: "Hold on, you got fired for getting your tongue pierced and you're kissing people behind bins. Who is the real Kate Abdo? Now you're dripping in Louis [Vuitton] and Gucci and the rest of it."<\/p>\n

"Hey, I've come a long way," Abdo replied. "That was pre my CBS times. Who would have known, eh?"<\/p>\n

Abdo's revelation was only the second most shocking event of the night, however, with Newcastle dismantling European giants PSG 4-1. The Toon were treated to a historic night in the first Champions League match to be played at St James' Park for two decades.<\/p>\n
