Tottenham fans endured a heart-in-mouth moment when their phones pinged on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
A notification from the club’s official app read: ‘Our home league clash with Liverpool has been rescheduled.’<\/p>\n
It had more than a few worried Spurs had given in to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s request that last Saturday’s controversial encounter should be replayed.<\/p>\n
Luis Diaz saw a perfectly legitimate goal disallowed for offside following a colossal mistake by the Video Assistant Referees.<\/p>\n
Amid a storm of controversy, Klopp suggested the fairest solution was to play the match, which Liverpool lost 2-1, in its entirety again.<\/p>\n

Tottenham fans were send into a panic when they received this notification from the club’s official mobile app on Thursday amid the VAR controversy with Liverpool<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp has called for Liverpool’s match with Tottenham to be replayed following VAR’s ‘significant error’ in disallowing Luis Diaz’s strike during Saturday’s 2-1 away defeat<\/p>\n

Luis Diaz was clearly onside but his goal was disallowed following a mix-up by VAR officials<\/p>\n

That seemed like wishful thinking but plenty believed they’d been a dramatic development in the saga when the push notification dropped on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But further investigation revealed the alert referred to a\u00a0new date for the Women’s Super League fixture between the same two clubs.<\/p>\n
The Spurs vs Liverpool WSL game at Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road ground on Sunday November 12 has been selected for live coverage on BBC Two, meaning it will kick off at 12.30pm.<\/p>\n
‘I fell off my chair,’ admitted one Spurs fan, while another tweeted ‘heart was in my mouth’ and another ‘that gave me a mild heart attack.’<\/p>\n
‘They knew EXACTLY what they were doing when wording that push notification lol,’ said another.<\/p>\n
Darren England was the VAR official responsible for the mistake during Saturday night’s Premier League game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.<\/p>\n

The PGMOL released the full audio from the VAR hub during Liverpool ‘s controversial 2-1 defeat to Tottenham, that saw referee Simon Hooper incorrectly disallow the Reds a goal<\/p>\n

VAR official Darren England (left) and VAR assistant Dan Cook (right) were dropped from their roles for upcoming fixtures after the high-profile error<\/p>\n
He has been slammed for his ‘critical concentration lapse’ and prioritising ‘efficiency over accuracy’ in a hard-hitting report by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the referees’ body.<\/p>\n
They said he rushed a routine situation and ‘inexplicably’ chalked off Diaz’s goal having muddled up the on-field verdict.<\/p>\n
Assistant VAR Dan Cook was also criticised for a lack of basic communication, laid bare by audio of the decision-making process being released to the public.<\/p>\n
