Petr Cech was no stranger to racking up impressive stats during his Premier League heyday, but the former goalkeeper is still posting impressive numbers as he stars for Oxford City Star’s ice hockey team.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cech played for both Chelsea and Arsenal during a Premier League career that saw him win four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the 2012 Champions League with the Blues, and is recognised as one the best goalies to grace the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, since retiring the Czech has turned his hand to a second sport, and is currently the goaltender for\u00a0NIHL South Division ice hockey side Oxford City Stars – where his level of performance remains as high as ever.<\/p>\n
So much so, that Cech was named man of the match in the Star’s latest win over Streatham as the 41-year-old saved 62 of the visitors 64 shots in a 3-2 win for Oxford.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The club took to social media to congratulate their star man and posted the message: ‘YOUR STARS MAN OF THE MATCH… Could have been a number of people, but with 62 saves from 64 shots on Goal, its #39 PETR CECH’\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was the second time Cech had bagged the man of the match award, after previously winning the accolade on his debut for the club.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Oxford City Stars are the former Premier League ace’s third different ice hockey outfit, having signed for Guilford Phoenix in 2019, just months after retiring from football.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After winning the treble with Phoenix in 2022, Cech moved\u00a0Division 1 side Chelmsford Chieftains before signing with Oxford City Stars in June of this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During a career that saw him make 633 appearances in English football and win 14 major trophies, Cech still holds the record for most clean sheets in the league’s history with 202 and the most shut outs in a single season with 24 in Chelsea’s 2005 title winning season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cech played over 600 games in the Premier League and won the title on four occasions\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this year Cech was inducted to the Premier League Hall of Fame for the class of 2023\u00a0<\/p>\n
He was a four-time winner of the Premier League’s Golden Gloves award and is the only player to have won it with two different clubs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His legacy was rewarded earlier this year when he was inducted as a member of the Premier League Hall of Fame.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After retiring and away from his ice hockey exploits, Cech returned to Chelsea in 2019 as\u00a0technical and performance advisor, and at one point re-registered as a emergency goalkeeper for the club, making one appearance for the club’s Under-23 team.<\/p>\n
Cech left his role at Stamford Bridge last summer after the arrival of Todd Bohely as the club’s new owner.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
