Liverpool are reportedly interested in making two signings in the January transfer window. However, a move for long-term target Youssoufa Moukoko is said to be unlikely despite the young striker being open to leaving Borussia Dortmund in the winter.

Liverpool made four signings in the summer, spending over £140million. Jurgen Klopp had to oversee a major overhaul of his midfield after losing five players from that position at the end of last season.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were early arrivals, with Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch arriving later in the window. Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have settled straight in, both starting all eight Premier League matches so far.

But it appears Klopp does not yet view his midfield as complete. A report from 90min claims he wants to sign another midfielder in the January window.

Klopp is also keen to strengthen in the centre of defence. Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip have sketchy injury records, while Virgil van Dijk is now 32 and can’t always be relied on to play three games a week.

Central midfield and centre-back are the two priorities for Klopp heading into January. He is unlikely to add in attack, despite Moukoko potentially being available.

90min says the 18-year-old is set to seek a loan move away from Dortmund. After scoring seven goals in 26 Bundesliga matches last season, he has made just four substitute appearances in the German top flight so far this term.

Moukoko wants to push his case for a spot in the Germany squad for Euro 2024 next year. He made his debut for his country at the age of 17 and became the youngest German to play at a World Cup in Qatar last November.
