{"id":292545,"date":"2023-10-21T14:26:07","date_gmt":"2023-10-21T14:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=292545"},"modified":"2023-10-21T14:26:07","modified_gmt":"2023-10-21T14:26:07","slug":"explained-the-strange-way-lewis-hamilton-holds-his-steering-wheel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/racing\/f1\/explained-the-strange-way-lewis-hamilton-holds-his-steering-wheel\/","title":{"rendered":"Explained: The strange way Lewis Hamilton holds his steering wheel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Explained: The strange way Lewis Hamilton holds his steering wheel<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hamilton has been seen with his left hand on the top of the steering wheel<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>It is a technique that has not be seen by the other drivers on the grid<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The Seven-time World Champion has endured a difficult season as Mercedes struggles to get to grips with new regulations\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Mercedes mechanic has given an explanation as to why Lewis Hamilton holds the steering wheel in a pecular way.<\/p>\n<p>Fans have noticed the seven-time World Driver&#8217;s Champion does not hold both the handles with either hand but instead has his left hand at the top.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Hamilton&#8217;s elite status, it appears to be a technique that no other driver on the grid has decided to adopt, not even teammate George Russell.<\/p>\n<p>Despite much speculation on X, he has neer revealed the reason behind it and instead it has been alluded by a team mechanic taking fans on a tour of the Mercedes pit.<\/p>\n<p>It is a technique deployed only at the start of a race before he takes a more convenitonal grip.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/20\/09\/76791375-12645697-image-m-2_1697791093055.jpg\" height=\"748\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Mercedes mechanic recreated Lewis Hamilton&#8217;s race-start grip while explaining it&#8217;s purpose<\/p>\n<p>And in a clip shared on the social media platform a Mercedes mechanic informs fans that is to avoid a gear shift disaster at a crucial point of the race.<\/p>\n<p>Adopting the same grip as Hamilton the mechanic said &#8216;Do you know why Lews starts like that?<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Why? What do you think?<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Is he showing you something?
