Former Reading star Leroy Lita has revealed his ex-Royals team-mate Graham Stack was unable to train due to losing a bet that saw him branded by an iron.

Despite having played all over the country during his lengthy career, which is still on-going after his return to join non-league Nuneaton Borough this past summer, Lita is known best for his spell at Reading during the mid to late 2000's. Having joined the Royals in 2005 from Bristol City for £1million, Lita helped Reading achieve promotion to the Premier League in his first season.

And the season after, they managed to finish eighth in the top flight, with Lita top scoring for the Royals with 14 goals in all competitions. Recently, the 38-year-old journeyman forward appeared on the Under the Cosh podcast, where he told plenty of stories from the past that had hosts Chris Brown, Chris 'Browny' Brown and Jon Parkin in stitches.

One of the stories Lita told was about Graham Stack, who came through the ranks at Arsenal, and was part of their 2003/04 Invincibles squad, before joining Reading. Lita was asked by Brown: "What's your favourite Graham Stack story?"

And while he could have taken his time to think about his answer, Lita knew exactly what story he was going to tell, outlining how a lost bet led to Stack being branded by his own friends with a hot iron on his lower back.

What do you make of Leroy Lita's Graham Stack story? Let us know in the comments section below.

"Oooo, there's only one isn't there," replied Lita quickly. "When he lost a bet to his mates. I think they were playing cards or maybe some drinking game and the forfeit was, you have to get a hot iron printed on your back.

"So if you look at Stacky's back – it's got an iron imprint. That's not healing. It was horrible. Got an iron on there. I was like…no, I didn't see it. He came into training and he couldn't train.

"I was like, why are you not training? You ain't even played for about six months, are you injured? [Lita then lifted up his shirt to show the Under the Cosh trio what Stack showed him]. I was like 'oooo', it was all red and puss-filled and stuff like that.

"Yeah, I stayed away from him after that. That's a bit too serious. That game is too far. He couldn't train till it had healed."
