Ireland rugby star\u00a0Anna Caplice took to social media to show how she was still celebrating ‘the party’ despite her country’s Rugby World Cup exit, as she stripped down to her underwear inside the Stade de France.<\/p>\n
Andy Farrell’s side were narrowly beaten 28-24 by New Zealand in the quarter-finals last week, ending the nation’s World Cup hopes in heartbreaking circumstances.<\/p>\n
It was the last opportunity for several Irish veterans, including 38-year-old fly-half Johnny Sexton, to lift the illustrious trophy, and their disappointment and dejection could be felt around the stadium at the final whistle.<\/p>\n
But\u00a0Caplice, refusing to appear downbeat after the defeat, decided instead to strip down to her pineapple-print underwear inside the Stade de France and lift the Ireland shirt above her head with pride.<\/p>\n
‘The party might be over… But we made the most of it,’ Caplice posted on Instagram. ‘Thank you Ireland! Good luck to all the semi final teams!’<\/p>\n

England suffered the same heartbreak as Ireland in the last four, as holders South Africa edged out a dramatic and late 16-15 victory against Steve Borthwick’s side to set up a World Cup final meeting against the All Blacks.<\/p>\n
Caplice, a former Ireland international with 14 caps, is now player-coach for French outfit Stade Rochelais.<\/p>\n
She previously represented UL Bohemians, Richmond Women, Harlequins and Gloucester-Hartpury before moving to France at the start of the 2023-24 season.<\/p>\n
Caplice has been a fervent advocate of the women’s game and has spoken out against sexism in rugby in the past.<\/p>\n

Ireland veteran Johnny Sexton was visibly devastated after the narrow defeat by New Zealand<\/p>\n

South Africa and New Zealand will face off in the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday evening<\/p>\n
Commenting on the Irish star’s Instagram post, Sky Sports presenter Emma Paton wrote:\u00a0‘You are younger than me but you are who I want to be when I grow up.’<\/p>\n
Several more fans praised Caplice for her attitude and reaction in the wake of Ireland’s defeat.<\/p>\n
One fan wrote: ‘Why are you my favourite person! You rock gurl!!!’<\/p>\n
Another added: ‘Anna please never change. This is amazing.’<\/p>\n
