{"id":293059,"date":"2023-10-26T01:26:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T01:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=293059"},"modified":"2023-10-26T01:26:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T01:26:31","slug":"former-liverpool-star-mamadou-sakho-is-suspended-by-montpellier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/soccer\/former-liverpool-star-mamadou-sakho-is-suspended-by-montpellier\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho is &apos;SUSPENDED&apos; by Montpellier"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Former Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho is &#8216;SUSPENDED&#8217; after he &#8216;grabbed his manager by the collar and knocked him to the ground&#8217; in a post-training fight over ungiven foul at Montpellier<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mamadou Sakho has reportedly been suspended following a row with his boss<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>He is at risk of being sacked by the club after pushing his manager to the ground<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow Mail Sport&#8217;s new Liverpool WhatsApp channel for all the breaking news\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Former Liverpool\u00a0defender Mamadou Sakho has reportedly been suspended by Montpellier following an alleged attack on his manager after training\u00a0on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old, who is now under investigation by the club and is reportedly at risk of being sacked, had an eight-year stay in the Premier League, spending four of those at Anfield before leaving the Reds to join Crystal Palace in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Sakho moved back to France to sign for Montpellier in 2021, but his days at the Ligue 1 outfit now appear to be numbered after a furious exchange with the team&#8217;s manager.<\/p>\n<p>According to <span>L&#8217;Equipe<\/span>, Sakho grabbed Michel Der Zakarian by the collar and knocked him to the ground in front of several witnesses during a training ground bust-up.<\/p>\n<p>The confrontation was sparked when Sakho was not given a foul by Der Zakarian during training, and proceeded to leave the training pitch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/25\/09\/76975567-12669951-image-a-24_1698223525408.jpg\" height=\"413\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mamadou Sakho (pictured) reportedly attacked his manager at Montpellier on Tuesday\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/25\/09\/76975569-12669951-image-a-25_1698223559068.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sakho is alleged to have knocked Michel Der Zakarian to the ground in a furious confrontation<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Der Zakarian is alleged to have responded to Sakho walking off by the telling the 29-cap French international that the session was &#8216;not \u00e0 la carte&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>This remark angered Sakho who reacted by knocking Der Zakarian to the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Players and staff members quickly stepped in to prevent the situation escalating further, while Der Zakarian was left furious, banging on the walls and doors to let his frustration out.<\/p>\n<p>Neither Sakho nor Der Zakarian were willing to speak further on the matter to <span>L&#8217;Equipe<\/span>, but it has now been reported by the same publication that the defender has been suspended and will now face a hearing with the club sometime in the next week.<\/p>\n<p>It has been claimed that Sakho was informed of his suspension early on Wednesday morning, which prevented him from training as normal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sakho could potentially be dismissed for serious misconduct if the club find that he acted inappropriately as part of their internal investigation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/25\/10\/76976877-12669951-image-a-1_1698225884678.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sakho, who spent four years at Liverpool from 2013 to 2017, could be sacked by Montpellier<\/p>\n<p>He was told he was no longer part of Der Zakarian&#8217;s plans in the summer, but was unable to get a transfer elsewhere.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman has made just one brief substitute appearance in the league this term and that could yet prove to be his final outing for the club.<\/p>\n<p>Montpellier have had a difficult start to the season having picked up just nine points from their opening eight games to leave them 14th in the table. They also had a match against Clermont Foot abandoned earlier this month after the opposition goalkeeper was targeted by a firecracker\u00a0thrown by supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Clermont Foot goalkeeper Mory Diaw was carried off, while his team-mate Neto Borges was then shown a red card for giving a middle finger gesture to the Montpellier fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The game was called off in added time, and Montpellier are set to learn the sanctions they will face for their fans&#8217;
