{"id":293189,"date":"2023-10-28T04:13:26","date_gmt":"2023-10-28T04:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=293189"},"modified":"2023-10-28T04:13:26","modified_gmt":"2023-10-28T04:13:26","slug":"manny-pacquiao-confirms-that-he-is-working-on-a-fight-with-amir-khan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/boxing\/manny-pacquiao-confirms-that-he-is-working-on-a-fight-with-amir-khan\/","title":{"rendered":"Manny Pacquiao confirms that he is &apos;working&apos; on a fight with Amir Khan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Manny Pacquiao confirms that he is &#8216;working&#8217; on a fight with Amir Khan to take place next year&#8230; as the boxing legend also says he hopes to compete at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Amir Khan told Mail Sport that he was in talks over a fight with Manny Pacquiao<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The boxing legend has now confirmed they are working on a fight next year\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>LISTEN: Exclusive Tyson Fury interview on THE HOOK &#8211; our new boxing podcast<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that he is working on a fight with Amir Khan which could take place next year.<\/p>\n<p>Khan told Mail Sport this week that he is in talks with Pacquiao in an epic showdown that could take place in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>The former light-welterweight world champion last turned out in a losing effort against long-term rival Kell Brook\u00a0last February, while Pacquiao has been out of the ring since an August 2021 defeat to Yordenis Ugas.<\/p>\n<p>Boxing legend Pacquiao is currently out in Saudi Arabia ahead of Tyson Fury&#8217;s Battle of the Baddest clash with MMA star Francis Ngannou on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>At a gala on Friday night ahead of tomorrow&#8217;s clash, Pacquiao confirmed to Mail Sport that talks are underway over a bout with with Khan.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/27\/22\/77098161-12681687-image-a-61_1698442055719.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Manny Pacquiao has confirmed he is working on a potential fight with Amir Khan for next year<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/27\/22\/77098213-12681687-image-a-62_1698442083650.jpg\" height=\"426\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Khan (right) previously revealed to Mail Sport that the pair could could out of retirement to face each other<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/27\/22\/77098199-12681687-image-a-63_1698442116060.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Pacquiao has been out of the ring since a shock August 2021 loss to Yordenis Ugas<\/p>\n<p>Pacquiao, who turned to politics towards the end of his boxing career, confirmed he is considering stepping out of retirement, as he said: &#8216;<span>We are working on it at the moment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;<\/span><span>We are expecting the fight to take place next year. The fight will be at 147\u2019.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Pacquiao also told journalists at the gala in Saudi Arabia that he is &#8216;trying&#8217; to be involved at next summer&#8217;s Olympics in Paris &#8211; where he would look to win the Philippines&#8217; first-ever boxing gold medal aged 45.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Khan was handed a two-year ban from all sports back in April\u00a0for failing a drugs test after his fight with Brook two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>As he hasn&#8217;t fought since his fight with Brook, that ban was backdated to the date of his provisional suspension &#8211;
