Aston Villa's Emi Martinez was awarded with the Lev Yashin Trophy on Monday evening, at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, but he was booed by the French audience on stage.<\/p>\n
Martinez took the accolade named after the only keeper to win the Ballon d'Or, largely thanks to his World Cup. The Villa star was part of an Argentine side that conquered the world last December. <\/p>\n
And he played a crucial role when he denied Randal Kolo-Muani in the dying seconds of the the clash. However, when the video was showed to the French audience, it was greeted with boos, causing Didier Drogba to demand they show Martinez some respect.<\/p>\n

In the Ballon d'Or rankings, Martinez placed 15th – the second-highest placed goalkeeper, finishing behind Morroco's Yassine Bounou.<\/p>\n
Martinez's international team-mate Lionel Messi won the main prize, taking home his eighth Ballon d'Or victory. Messi's main triumph over the past 12 months was the World Cup, and he has since swapped PSG to Inter Miami – where he's enjoying life in the MLS.<\/p>\n
Messi pipped Manchester City's superstar Erling Haaland and his former team-mate Kylian Mbappe to the post.<\/p>\n
