as a march is held to call for his release amid an ongoing search by the military and police<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A mass march was held in Diaz&#8217;s hometown of\u00a0Barrancas on Tuesday night<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Liverpool star urged supporters to attend to call for his father&#8217;s release\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow Mail Sport&#8217;s new Liverpool WhatsApp channel for all the breaking news\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Luis Diaz has broken his silence following the kidnapping of his parents in Colombia, with the Liverpool star urging followers to march to call for the release of his missing father.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz was told about his parents being kidnapped on Saturday evening, less than 24 hours before Liverpool&#8217;s 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest at Anfield.<\/p>\n<p>His mother, Cilenis Marulanda, has since been freed from the kidnappers, but the whereabouts of his father, Luis Manuel, remain unknown.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz shared a post on Instagram of a planned march in Colombia, featuring a photo of Luis Manuel.<\/p>\n<p>The post invited the \u2018whole community\u2019 and urged them to \u2018bring your candle to light the light of hope, with the image ending with the urge to the captors to \u2018free him now\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/00\/77248343-12695555-image-a-45_1698797549612.jpg\" height=\"988\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Liverpool star Luis Diaz encouraged supporters to attend a march to call for his father&#8217;s release<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/00\/77248101-12695555-image-a-44_1698797480204.jpg\" height=\"612\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The march took place in their hometown of Barrancas with supporters holding white balloons<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Footage of the march in their hometown of Barrancas showed supporters carrying white balloons and chanting for the release of Diaz\u2019s father.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police have been carrying out patrols across the Perija mountain range in search of Diaz&#8217;s father, amid concerns he may have been smuggled over\u00a0Colombia&#8217;s border into Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s national police director Gen William Salamanca joined the search on Monday, with the range covered by a forest.<\/p>\n<p>He express caution on reports Luis Manuel may have already been taken into Venezuela, given the difficultly of crossing the range.<\/p>\n<p>More details of the kidnapping have emerged recently, with Semana&#8217;s report claiming Diaz&#8217;s parents were buying watermelons when they were taken by four armed men on motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>After the police enacted a &#8216;padlock&#8217; We really care about him,&#8217; Lijnders said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We try to support him as much as we can. A lot of things are out of our hands. We pray that they find his dad and everything is good.
