which he swiftly deleted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There had been speculation that the player was set for a termination of his contract, but was set for a return to the club who said they &#8216;had engaged in an in-depth conversation&#8217; with the player and distanced themselves from his original statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>El Ghazi took to social media again on Wednesday to clarify his position, insisting he had &#8216;no regret or remorse&#8217; over his original post and that he was &#8216;against the killing of all civilians&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mainz have reacted to his latest statement in which they said they will &#8216;examine the facts from a legal standpoint and then evaluate the situation&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/10\/77264657-0-image-a-17_1698836218300.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Anwar El Ghazi has reiterated his stance on the on-going conflict in the Middle East\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/10\/77264655-0-image-a-19_1698836345676.jpg\" height=\"433\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He said he had &#8216;no regret or remorse&#8217; over his original post and was against the killing of all innocent civilians\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/15\/77276077-12698399-image-a-1_1698854397486.jpg\" height=\"793\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mainz were surprised by his statement and said they will &#8216;evaluate the situation&#8217; over El Ghazi<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>They wrote: &#8216;Mainz 05 fail to understand and are surprised by Anwar El Ghazi&#8217;s statement on his social-media channels relating to the club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The club will examine the facts from a legal standpoint and then evaluate the situation&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>They also insisted that he has not yet returned for training, and that the player took sick leave on Monday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>El Ghazi had took to social media to reaffirm his position and claim the original statement on October 27 was his &#8216;only and final&#8217; I do not believe any people or states are beyond question and accountability nor are they above International law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I have no choice but to stand firm for justice and bear witness to the truth and would do so even if was against me, my parents, my relatives and kinsmen.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old added that he believes there cannot be any &#8216;justification&#8217; for the reported 3,500 child deaths that has arisen as a result of the conflict in the last three weeks, citing Save The Children statistics that claim one child is being killed &#8216;every 10 minutes in Gaza&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;That&#8217;s 9 children killed by the time I complete 1 football match. That number is rising by the day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I, and we as a world, cannot conscionably remain silent.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We must call for an end to the killing in Gaza now!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>El Ghazi reportedly returned to his home country The Netherlands after his initial statement was greeted with a ban.<\/p>\n<p>Mainz&#8217;s statement in response to his original statement detailed how the club believes it has a &#8216;special responsibility to the state of Israel and the Jewish people&#8217;, in part in a nod to their club&#8217;s heritage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/11\/77231141-0-Anwar_El_Ghazi_has_had_his_suspension_lifted_by_Mainz_after_shar-a-23_1698837075978.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The player had his suspension lifted by Mainz after sharing a seemingly pro-Palestine post two weeks ago<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/01\/11\/77231079-0-The_player_shared_the_post_but_was_quick_to_delete_it_after_disc-m-22_1698836529757.jpg\" height=\"701\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The player shared the post but was quick to delete it after discussion with Bundesliga club<\/p>\n<p>One of Mainz&#8217;s founding members Eugen Salomon was Jewish, and stripped of his role in the club in 1933 as the Nazi government began the Aryanisation of the sporting industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Salomon was later murdered in the Holocaust, and the\u00a0club&#8217;s stadium is named in his memory.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The club&#8217;s board made it clear to Anwar El Ghazi that employees of the club are bound to a code of values,&#8217; a section of the club&#8217;s statement read.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Implicit in this code of values is a special responsibility to the state of Israel and the Jewish people, not only due to past events in German history, but also stemming from the shared history with one of FSV&#8217;s founding members and member of the Jewish community, Eugen Salomon.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Breaking his silence last week, El Ghazi apologised for his earlier statements being &#8216;misunderstood&#8217; as he sought to share a message condemning the killing of civilians\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>El Ghazi wrote: &#8216;I condemn the killing of all innocent civilians in Palestine and Israel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;My sympathies are with the innocent victims of this conflict irrespective of their nationality.
