Football Digest: Man Utd urged to give Ten Hag time he needs

Manchester United’s board are reportedly desperate to stick with Erik ten Hag despite a dismal start to the season. The Red Devils crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday after a 3-0 defeat at home to a rotated Newcastle side, with the pressure continuing to build on their Dutch boss.

United have lost five of their 10 Premier League games this season so far and currently sit in eighth place, while are also third in their Champions League group after defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray. They are said to be desperate to stick with Ten Hag, but will know that the current situation cannot continue much longer.

United have endured their worst league start through 10 games since 1986 and taunts of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” have become commonplace, with the travelling Newcastle supporters the latest group of fans to taunt Ten Hag.
