{"id":293955,"date":"2023-11-03T09:24:58","date_gmt":"2023-11-03T09:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=293955"},"modified":"2023-11-03T09:24:58","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T09:24:58","slug":"ben-stokes-will-undergo-knee-surgery-after-the-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/%d1%81ricket\/ben-stokes-will-undergo-knee-surgery-after-the-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Ben Stokes will undergo knee surgery after the World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Ben Stokes will undergo knee surgery after the World Cup as he looks to finally address the ongoing issue &#8211; but the England Test captain insists he should be fine for January&#8217;s tour of India<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Ben Stokes has been struggling with a knee issue for a prolonged\u00a0period of time<\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>There has been significant speculation he would have surgery after the Ashes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The England Test skipper revealed he will go under the knife after the World Cup\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>England&#8217;s Ben Stokes is set to have surgery at the end of the World Cup as he attempts to conquer his long-term left knee injury.<\/p>\n<p>The Test captain has been struggling with the problem for at least 18 months and has had to play as a specialist batter recently, with his body unable to cope with the rigours of bowling.<\/p>\n<p>Stokes suggested he was considering an operation after this summer&#8217;s Ashes series, but instead chose to come out of ODI retirement and take part in England&#8217;s title defence in India.<\/p>\n<p>With England on the way out at the end of the group stage, he is likely to go under the knife before the end of the month and will hope to be ready to lead his side&#8217;s Test tour of India in January.<\/p>\n<p>Stokes, speaking on the eve of his side&#8217;s clash with Ashes rivals Australia in Ahmedabad, said: &#8216;I am having surgery after the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/03\/08\/77356097-12706139-image-a-30_1699001622613.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ben Stokes revealed he will undergo knee surgery to fix the ongoing issue after the World Cup<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/03\/08\/77356027-0-image-a-2_1699001273815.jpg\" height=\"397\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Stokes has been struggling with the problem on his left knee for much of the past 18 months<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I will hopefully be fine for the Test series (against India).&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Pressed for further details, he added: &#8216;When we go to those meetings we generally take a physio and doctor and they start talking.
