Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Casemiro is set to spend a number of weeks on the sidelines through injury. The Brazilian suffered up a hamstring strain during the 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle in midweek and could even miss upcoming Premier League clashes with the Magpies and Chelsea.<\/p>\n
Casemiro played the opening 45 minutes but did not re-emerge at half-time, prompting concerns that he had picked up another injury. Ten Hag confirmed the news after the game that he was forced off, before the club later issued a statement clarifying the nature and severity.<\/p>\n
The statement read: “Casemiro will be out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
“The Brazilian midfielder was withdrawn at half-time due to the issue, and subsequent assessment has revealed a strain that will keep him out for a number of weeks.”<\/p>\n
