Marcus Rashford kept a low profile as he appeared to snub fans waiting to wave off Manchester United as they made the journey to London ahead of today’s lunchtime kick-off with Fulham.

The England star wore headphones and a baseball cap low over his forehead and seemed engrossed in his iPad as he walked with the team towards Stockport train station on a damp and drizzly morning.

But whilst his team-mates – including Anthony Martial – stopped for a quick high-five with some of the attendant supporters, Rashford continued straight ahead as he made for the train.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) were divided over the 26-year-old’s behaviour, with the original poster of the video asking: ‘Who does Rashford think he is?’

Another echoed the sentiment, adding: ‘He always does that. He doesn’t even recognize the fans who most probably wait there for hours.’

‘I spoke with him about it. It’s unacceptable,’ Ten Hag said. ‘He apologised and that is it. For us it’s an internal matter.’

The two results marked the first time that Manchester United have lost back-to-back home matches by three or more goals since the 1962-63 season.

But Ten Hag refused to doubt his player’s intentions on the pitch in the wake of the misdeed.

‘He’s very motivated to put things right. He’s totally with us,’ Ten Hag added.

‘He has made a mistake but that doesn’t say he’s not fitting in. I see him every day in training, what he’s doing, I know.’
