We needed a big performance, we needed a goal. Critical time against\u00a0Burnley after the Champions League\u00a0defeat, he stepped up. Today they needed somebody to step out of the shadows, get into the spotlight. That was him. He took responsibility. A fantastic strike.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/04\/15\/77400189-12710207-image-m-25_1699110393569.jpg\" height=\"384\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Bruno Fernandes netted a late opener for the visitors to seal the victory at 1-0 in the capital<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/04\/15\/77400193-12710207-image-m-27_1699110408429.jpg\" height=\"390\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Man United enjoyed the celebrations as captain&#8217;s goal put an end to their woeful performances<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/04\/15\/77400211-12710207-image-a-28_1699110437455.jpg\" height=\"465\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Rio Ferdinand was quick to praise former captain Harry Maguire for his strong defence<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>However, it wasn&#8217;t just Fernandes on the end of Ferdinand&#8217;s praise, as England defender Harry Maguire\u00a0was also mentioned.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He deserves special mention as well. Head injury in the first couple of seconds of the game, battled his way through. It\u2019s not about performances, there wasn\u2019t a good performance there today. But they got the three points and that\u2019s the most important thing.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Cole echoed Ferdinand&#8217;s words: \u2018It\u2019s a huge goal for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United. We said before the game, he\u2019ll pick players he trusts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Bruno Fernandes, proven match winner. You can trust him. Scott McTominay, outstanding in midfield, he\u2019s done his job. Harry Maguire, he can trust. You know what he\u2019s going to get.\u00a0Jonny Evans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It wasn\u2019t a good performance by any stretch of the imagination, but you\u2019ve got to give the Manchester United players credit for sticking at it. They kept digging in. This could be a catalyst for change.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>As the Red Devils travel to Denmark ahead of their Champions League clash with Copenhagen, they currently sit in third in Group A, behind Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the Champions League the former England international added: \u2018It\u2019s step by step. You\u2019ve got to take each game as it comes, but this is a fantastic moment for the club. Loads of pressure, loads of spotlight, loads of hysteria surrounding the club.
