Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has accused Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall of ‘bullying’ the fourth official during their Women’s Super League match on Sunday.

Taylor made the claim after the Gunners’ 2-1 victory, in which Stina Blackstenius netted a late winner following an error from keeper Khiara Keating.

The two managers were involved in some heated exchanges during the match, which saw City suffer their first defeat of the domestic season.

Taylor said he was ‘protecting’ fourth official Melissa Burgin because of Eidevall’s behaviour.

‘That is always the same with him because he is constantly at the fourth official and I think it is bullying,’ Taylor told the BBC.

Man City manager Gareth Taylor made the claims after the pair were involved in some heated exchanges

‘I am protecting the fourth official but that’s not my job.’

Eidevall was not spoken to by the referee about his conduct during the win and Arsenal have not commented on the matter.

The Gunners opened the scoring through Steph Catley before Keating saved a Kim Little penalty.

Chloe Kelly brought things level in the 72nd minute, but the Gunners sealed the win three minutes from time after Blackstenius capitalised on a misjudgement from Keating – as the City keeper rushed out to deal with a long ball from Katie McCabe.

Taylor said: ‘I think everyone who saw that game could see we should have won. We are feeling a little bit robbed.

‘It’s a similar story to last season. We created a lot of chances and we’ve got to be better at the top end of the pitch.

‘The performance was very good. We dominated and there was a point when I thought they were out on their feet and there was only one team that was going to win.’
