Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys believes Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool next year and queried why the Egyptian has never won one of the major European individual awards. Liverpool’s resolve was tested in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window when Saudi Arabia launched a late bid to try and prise Salah away from Anfield with a huge offer.

Neither Liverpool nor Salah were willing to entertain the offer before the transfer window closed. But Saudi Arabia are expected to try again in the New Year to put further pressure on Liverpool.

Salah remains Liverpool’s main source of goals and has already found the net 10 times in all competitions this season. At 31 years of age, Salah is still at the peak of his powers and Liverpool will need to do some work to try and find someone capable of replacing his output.

But Keys believes it’s inevitable that Salah will leave Anfield next year with a move more likely to come at the end of the season. “Are we looking at him in his last year at Liverpool? I think the answer probably is yes,” Keys said on BeIn Sports.

Salah’s potential departure from the Premier League then shifted Keys’ focus to the Egypt international’s personal honours – or lack thereof. He’s never won the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award or Ballon d’Or despite his heroics on Merseyside.

And Keys wonders whether Salah’s career at Liverpool has been undervalued. “He’s never had a sniff of the very big honours despite being very impactful in the English game,” Keys added.
