Manchester United are reportedly happy for Mason Greenwood to continue his loan at Getafe until the end of the season. Greenwood signed for the La Liga club on a temporary basis after it was decided that he could no longer play for the Red Devils.

In February, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour, and assault against the United forward. He denied all the charges.

A six-month investigation concluded with the Red Devils deciding that he should rebuild his football career elsewhere. The 22-year-old eventually signed for Getafe, moving to Spain alongside members of his family.

At the time, United insisted that it was unlikely that Greenwood would ever play for the club again. He subsequently agreed a season-long loan with the Spanish side.

It is claimed that United are likelier to agree to another season-long loan for 2024-25 than a permanent transfer as their priority is allowing Greenwood to rebuild his career away from Old Trafford.

A source allegedly told the newspaper: “Getafe have discussed trying to get United round the table so they can make an offer, which they believe could be attractive to United to get Mason off their wage bill.

“The likelier option is United agree for the loan to be extended as they know that Mason is happy and rebuilding his life. They know he needs to grow up and want him to do so — and so far the Getafe loan has worked out well for everyone.”
