Man Utd are making huge changes ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming into the club | Football Digest

Manchester United reportedly insist that Mason Greenwood will never play for the club again, despite his loan move ending at the end of the season. The forward is impressing out on loan at Getafe, but his performances are not expected to change the stance of the Red Devils.

The Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) dropped charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault against Greenwood in February following the withdrawal of key witnesses and ‘new material’ coming to light. The United forward denied all of the charges.

The Red Devils then ruled that they would conduct their own internal investigation into the England international and following a six-month review, it was announced that Greenwood would leave the club to get his career back on track elsewhere – with United insisting that they would provide him with continued support.

Prior to the announcement, it was reported that United intended to retain the services of Greenwood and reintroduce him to the first team, but the public outrage prompted the club to alter their stance. As a result, it has consistently been speculated that the Red Devils could have a change of heart further down the line, potentially when his loan spell at Getafe ends.

However, GiveMeSport report that United’s position is ‘genuine’ and that Greenwood ‘will never play for the club again’. The Red Devils feel that they have a ‘responsibility’ to resolve the 22-year-old’s long-term future as he came through their academy as a child, but that does not mean that he will return to Old Trafford despite Paul Mitchell – who has been linked with a backroom role at United – watching him play for Getafe recently.

Greenwood has scored three goals in 10 appearances for Getafe since making his deadline-day move to the La Liga, earning plenty of plaudits from the Spanish media along the way for how he can be deadly anywhere across the frontline.
