Kylian Mbappe declined to discuss his future at Paris Saint-Germain insisting it will eventually be ‘resolved one day’.

The Frenchman has long been linked with a move away from Ligue 1, with Real Madrid top of the list of potential destinations.

Last year Mbappe signed a new two-year deal with PSG with the option of an extra year to 2025 that only he could activate, but that has hardly quelled the rumours he may leave the Parc des Princes.

But speaking after scoring a hat-trick in France’s historic 14-0 thrashing of Gibraltar on Saturday night, the 24-year-old insisted he did not want to discuss his future.

‘It’s something I don’t want to talk about, especially since I already did it in June and it took up a big part of the time with the national team,’ he told Telefoot.

‘I want us to talk more about the national team, rather than me talking about something that will be resolved one day, so there will be time to talk about that.’

The saga over Mbappe’s future has been rumbling on for over two years now, with Real refusing to give up their chase for the 2018 World Cup winner.

The Spanish giants had two bids for Mbappe in the region of £140million knocked back in the summer of 2021 and he came close to join them on a free transfer after his contract expired last year.

After informing PSG bosses he would not be signing a new deal, Mbappe eventually made a late U-turn and signed a two-year extension.

His future came to the fore again in the summer when Mbappe was exiled from PSG’s squad after he told the club he would not exercise his option to remain in Paris for a further 12 months.

That would effectively leave PSG vulnerable to losing the most valuable player in the world on a free transfer next summer.

Mbappe was subsequently left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea and missed the first game of the season against Lorient, before returning to Luis Enrique’s services.

And, according to French outlet RMC Sport, Mbappe was only allowed to return to the squad if he agreed to forego bonuses that he was owed.

The France superstar scored a hat-trick in Les Bleus’ record 14-0 win over Gibraltar

Mbappe was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour and eventually allowed to rejoin the squad only after he agreed to forego around £70m worth of bonuses

The report claims PSG had originally insisted the only way he could rejoin Luis Enrique’s first team was if he signed a new deal, something the forward refused to do and a prospect he continues to dismiss.

As a result, they changed tact and Mbappe has now given up approximately £70m (€80m) worth of bonuses after reaching an agreement with the club following his reintegration.

Last week, the France star insisted he had no problems with Enrique who criticised him after scoring a hat-trick for PSG in their recent Ligue 1 victory over Reims.

Enrique claimed he ‘wasn’t happy’ with Mbappe, who he felt must ‘do more’ despite him scoring all three goals in PSG’s win.

Mbappe, however, explained he was trying to learn the former Spanish national team boss.

Mbappe has also been forced to deny rumours of a rift between him and coach Luis Enrique

‘You’d have to ask him about the timing [of his criticism]. I took it well, he’s a great coach and has a lot to teach me,’ he said.

‘From day one, I told him he’d have no problem with me.

‘I’ve always worked well with the coaches I’ve had, like Didier Deschamps, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and so on.

‘These are coaches who have spoken to me ‘badly’, so to speak – but it didn’t stop me from playing well and having a good relationship with them.’
