The Hollywood actor showed his class in a message he sent to the head coach directly after the heavy loss, expressing that the team still &#8220;had his back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The heavy defeat was inflicted on Wrexham back in September following their triumphant promotion back into League Two. The team, under the guidance of Parkinson, won the National League the season prior with 11 points &#8211; a record for the most points earned in a season &#8211; ending their 45-year trophy drought and 15-year spell in the league.<\/p>\n<p>Wrexham endured a mixed run of form following their promotion, but after four wins in a row the team stumbled against Stockport at the Edgeley Park. The Red Dragons let in three goals before half-time thanks to efforts from Isaac Olaofe and Louie Barry. Olaofe would complete his hattrick in the second half with Paddy Madden scoring in the final minute to add further salt into the wound.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/67\/590x\/secondary\/5076042.jpg?r=1700508083402\"><\/p>\n<p>The defeat was the team&#8217;s heaviest since losing against Luton Town almost a decade prior. It was also the third time in nine league games they had conceded five goals.<\/p>\n<p>Despite frustrations at the manner of the result, McElhenney was quick to show his support to Parkinson. It is easy to coast through on that, feeling the wind at your back and in your sails. But when you are going through adversity and you take a look around, you really see who your friends are.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone goes through those moments of adversity. No one\u2019s life is a constant uptick. Those moments are important. You see who is really there for you when the chips are down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wrexham have reaped the rewards of showing their support to Parkinson despite the disappointing result. The team is currently on a 12-match unbeaten run &#8211; nine wins and three draws in all competitions.<\/p>\n<p>The run sees the team sat fourth in League Two, just behind fellow recently promoted side Notts County on goal difference.
