Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on another RB Leipzig talent after signing Dominik Szoboszlai from the Bundesliga club in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp could be about to add another former Leipzig player to his squad alongside Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate as the Anfield giants look to bolster their firepower up front.

And that search has reportedly led to Lois Openda, who blew Manchester City away in the first half at the Etihad in the Champions League on Tuesday night as he scored both of the German sides two goals in their 3-2 defeat.

Bild journalist Christian Falk claims that Liverpool are keeping an eye on Openda, who only arrived in Leipzig in the summer from Lens for a club record €45million plus add ons after scoring 21 goals in 38 Ligue 1 games. The season prior he scored 18 in 33 Eredivisie games for Vitesse Arnhem. He currently has 13 goals in 20 games in all competitions already for Leipzig this season.

Given his incredible rise over the last two seasons, Liverpool aren’t alone in his pursuit, with Arsenal and Manchester United also said to be interested. However, the striker’s unusual release clause of €80million, which doesn’t kick in until 2025, could prove a sticking point.

Writing in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing last month, Falk said: “Leipzig are a little relaxed at the moment, as next summer there's no active release clause for Lois Openda. It begins in 2025 and I heard it's a bit higher than the €80m [£69m] that has been reported elsewhere.

"I'm sure that clubs like Liverpool will be keeping an eye on him. You've already seen with Dominik Szoboszlai that they've had a mostly positive experience with RB Leipzig players. It's also worth noting the similarity in style between the two clubs, which is obviously of benefit to Liverpool."

Leipzig have become a hub for young talent since emerging as a regular European outfit over the last decade. Szoboszlai cost the Reds £60m in the summer, while City coughed up £77.6m for Josko Gvardiol in the summer.

However, former Liverpool flop Naby Keita proved buying from the German side isn’t without risk. He cost the Reds a then-club record £52.75m before being released last summer.
