Ange Postecoglou says ‘we’ll get through it’ after Tottenham are beaten again

Tottenham could frustrate Manchester United and Chelsea in the January transfer window after being linked with the same targets as their Premier League rivals. All three clubs appear to be interested in strengthening their defensive options in the opening month of 2024.

Top-flight clubs are plotting their transfer business with a little over a month until the window opens. Spurs are likely to be busy after Ange Postecoglou was hit with a devastating injury crisis in the opening months of the campaign.

Micky van de Ven – who had formed an excellent defensive partnership with Cristian Romero – is expected to miss until at least the new year with a serious hamstring injury. Postecoglou started the 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa on Sunday with a back four comprised entirely of natural full-backs.

Reports claim that Spurs could sign another centre-back in the January window. The north Londoners reportedly have a long-standing interest in Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.

According to the Evening Standard, Guehi could be targeted in the transfer market alongside Everton starlet Jarrad Branthwaite. However, both players have been linked with other Premier League rivals.

It is claimed that Guehi is also of interest to Man Utd. Erik ten Hag’s centre-backs have suffered a dip in form, with Raphael Varane the latest star to be dropped by the Dutchman.

Meanwhile, both United and Chelsea have been linked with the 21-year-old Branthwaite. Spurs could get a major victory over both clubs if they sign either Guehi or Branthwaite in January.

Express Sport understands that Palace are unlikely to sell England ace Guehi in January. It would take an astronomical fee to prise the former Chelsea player away from the south Londoners.
