Andre Onana is struggling at Man Utd | Football Digest

Those looking to tune into Newcastle’s match with Manchester United on Saturday may have been surprised when noting that it will kick off at 8.00pm. In the UK, Premier League Saturday games on TV are usually kept to 12.30pm and 5.30pm start times but on this occasion, a different approach has been taken.

What channel is Newcastle vs Man Utd on?

TNT Sports are broadcasting the blockbuster clash as both sides are vying for a place in the top four, having finished inside the Champions League places last season. It will be shown on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate, though the broadcaster often takes the early kick-off while Sky Sports provides the 5.30pm match.

Last weekend also saw a change of schedule, as Sky took the early game to broadcast Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool. TNT then showcased Arsenal’s win at Brentford later in the day.

Why does the match kick off at 8pm?

Newcastle v Manchester United will be played at 8.00pm as it was selected for TV broadcast. The game as moved from a 3.00pm kick-off after TNT picked the game for coverage, however, they were unable to show it at their usual lunchtime spot.

Both teams were in Champions League action during the week and their European commitments ensured that they were prohibited from playing at 12.30. This is due to a lack of recovery time between matches, while City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Brighton, Aston Villa and West Ham all get the same treatment.

No game is being shown at 12.30pm, with TNT opting to fill the 8.00pm slot instead after Sky host what many believe to be a relegation six-pointer when Everton travel to Nottingham Forest.
