Listen to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My highlight as a kid every birthday and Christmas would be tearing open the wrapping paper to discover the kit of Rangers, my idols.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a boy, I watched them win cup finals in front of 130,000 at Hampden.<\/p>\n<p>To finally pull on their royal blue shirt as a player at nearly 33 was special, particularly when I scored my first goal \u2014 a header of course \u2014 against St Mirren.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I wasn\u2019t there long but we won the league in 1988-89, the first of nine in a row, so I am part of the club\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>A funny memory was being called in by my manager at West Brom, Ron Atkinson, to say the team I\u2019d always wanted to play for had made a bid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I joked I was too old for Real Madrid \u2014 when he confirmed it was Rangers, I jumped in my car to sign.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/22\/78755123-12843415-image-m-29_1702073815745.jpg\" height=\"421\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>To pull on a royal blue shirt of my idols Rangers at nearly 33 years old was a special moment<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/22\/78755125-12843415-image-a-30_1702073835430.jpg\" height=\"413\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>We were part of the 1988-89 champions, as Rangers started a run of nine titles in a row<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/08\/22\/78755121-12843415-image-m-32_1702073955385.jpg\" height=\"558\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ron Atkinson said my dream team had made a bid &#8211;
