What it&#8217;s like being annihilated and banned THREE times by Fergie \u2013 It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Manchester United do not intend to activate the option to extend Anthony Martial&#8217;s contract when it expires at the end of this season, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The French striker has entered the final year of his deal at Old Trafford and the club have the ability to grant him another 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>But according to The Athletic,\u00a0the United hierarchy are willing to let Martial leave for free at the end of the season and have no interest in renewing his deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Martial signed a new five-year deal believed to be worth \u00a3250,000 a week with the Red Devils in 2019, which included a clause allowing United to extend his stay by 12 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Given the fact United are hesitant to extend Martial&#8217;s deal, it could spell a potential January exit for the forward &#8211; although interested clubs will know he will be available for free in the summer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/10\/78815841-12849695-image-a-7_1702289505553.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Manchester United do not intend to activate the option to extend Anthony Martial&#8217;s contract<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/10\/78786531-12849695-Anthony_Martial_was_on_the_periphery_of_the_game_against_Bourneo-a-8_1702289515441.jpg\" height=\"406\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The forward&#8217;s deal at Old Trafford is set to come to an end when the season commences<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Martial signed for United back in 2015 from French side Monaco in a deal worth\u00a0\u00a336million, making him the most-expensive teenager in football history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His initial deal contained three bonus clauses worth \u00a37.2 million each, taking the potential fee to \u00a357.6 million. \u00a344.7 million ended up being the total fee.<\/p>\n<p>One of the clauses was centred around the French forward potentially winning football&#8217;s most prestigious individual prize, the Ballon d&#8217;Or.<\/p>\n<p>After a bright start to his United career, which included a superb individual goal against Liverpool on his debut, Martial has fallen someway short of expectations and has struggled to find his best form at Old Trafford.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During his eight years at the club, Martial has scored just 90 goals in 317 games. His highest tally in a season came in 2019-20, when he scored 23 goals in 48 games.<\/p>\n<p>Martial has not completed 90 minutes in the Premier League since United&#8217;s 2-1 home defeat by Sheffield United in January 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman also endured a disastrous six-month loan spell at Sevilla last January after being deemed surplus to requirements at United.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Erik\u00a0ten Hag\u00a0jumped to the defence of Martial after he was booed off during Manchester United&#8217;s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p>United suffered an embarrassing defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday as Andoni Iraola&#8217;s side extended their unbeaten run to five games.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/10\/78786499-12849695-Erik_ten_Hag_is_facing_increased_pressure_as_Manchester_United_m-a-10_1702289563786.jpg\" height=\"461\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Erik ten Hag jumped to Martial&#8217;s defence after a lacklustre performance against Bournemouth\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/10\/78815873-12849695-image-a-9_1702289552254.jpg\" height=\"412\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Martial had a bright start to his United career but has failed to live up to expectations<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Solanke, Phillip Billing and Marcos Senesi all scored to pile further pressure on boss Ten Hag.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result the Dutchman spoke about Martial after the striker produced a lacklustre performance on Saturday, managing just one effort on goal and recording the fewest touches of any starter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ten Hag insisted: &#8216;Two weeks ago against Everton he played a very good game!<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So he has absolutely the competencies and the abilities to play so I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s fair, after a performance like this, to go to one player now.
