Contact IAKO@dailymail.co.uk\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The disgraced former president of Turkish club Ankaragucu was handed a lifetime ban by Turkey&#8217;s football federation on Thursday after punching a referee following a game earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The Turkish football federation&#8217;s disciplinary board has also ordered Ankaragucu to play five home matches behind closed doors and fined the club 60,000 euros ($66,000).<\/p>\n<p>Club boss Faruk Koca rushed onto the pitch with a group of men following Ankaragucu&#8217;s draw with Caykur Rizespor on Monday, throwing a punch at referee Halil Umut Meler after he had blown the final whistle.<\/p>\n<p>Koca, who was touted as a possible candidate for mayor of Ankara, subsequently resigned from his post, while all Turkish league matches were suspended until December 19.<\/p>\n<p>Koca appeared to be incensed at Meler for sending off one of his players and then awarding a stoppage-time goal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/14\/21\/78979115-12865949-image-a-15_1702589557426.jpg\" height=\"426\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Former president of MKE Ankaragucu Faruk Koca has been handed a lifetime ban by the Turkish Football Federation<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/14\/21\/78837847-12865949-Turkish_football_descended_into_chaos_on_Monday_night_after_MKE_-a-17_1702589633713.jpg\" height=\"429\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>It came after he punched referee Halil Umut Meler in the head during his side&#8217;s game against Rizespor on monday<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/14\/21\/78837867-12865949-The_match_official_was_sent_crashing_to_the_ground_after_the_pun-a-18_1702589671962.jpg\" height=\"421\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The match official was sent crashing to the ground after the punch and sustained a black eye<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Meler fell to the ground and was kicked several times in the ensuing melee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sports means peace and brotherhood.
