Martin Tyler, 78, has claimed he was axed by Sky Sports – and he didn't step down as the channel's top commentator over the summer.<\/p>\n
The Premier League has been without Tyler this season, with the legendary commentator replaced by Peter Drury on Sky. Tyler did admit he wasn't retiring – and he's continued to commentate on games for oversees broadcasters. <\/p>\n
However, when speaking on talkSPORT, Tyler has now revealed he was axed by the broadcasters. Speaking on Sunday morning, he said: "I didn't step down, I was stepped down.<\/p>\n

Tyler then added: "Please don't think there's any bitterness about Sky at all, they gave me a wonderful run. I've got many friends there, I'll be watching in the press room at the Emirates after the Arsenal game, the coverage of Liverpool vs Manchester United and it'll bring back a lot of personal memories. <\/p>\n

Tyler returned to UK TV screens earlier this week when he called the Champions League clash between Porto and Tyler Shakhtar Donetsk for TNT Sports\/Discovery Plus. The 78-year-old can also be found on comms for American channel NBC Sports.<\/p>\n
However, it's not just in the gantry where Tyler is keeping himself busy, and he also coaches at non-league side Dartford. Tyler joked: "I might be an old git in terms of birth certificate but I've got a young heart."<\/p>\n
