The Royal Rumble may seal up to three potential main event matches ahead of WrestleMania 36. Some of the biggest superstars from RAW, SmackDown and NXT will be in action tonight at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas but only a handful of them will lay claim to close WrestleMania.
The winners of the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches will be first in line as they will earn a major title shot at Mania, which takes place on April 5 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Roman Reigns appears to be the favourite to stand tall in the 30-men over-the-top-rope battle royal, which will mark the second time he wins this prestigious bout in his career.
Rumours suggest that Reigns will then go on to the Show of Shows to challenge Bray Wyatt and end The Fiend’s undefeated streak by winning the Universal Championship.
The Big Dog would come full circle after relinquishing the Universal title on October 2018 when he was diagnosed with leukaemia.

The four-time world champion returned just four months later to announce that he is in remission but hasn’t received a title shot ever since.
But Reigns’ inspirational return to the top may not be enough to let him headline WrestleMania for the fifth time.
That spot may be reserved for the women once more a year after Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair made history by becoming the first ever female wrestlers to perform in the main event at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Shayna Baszler is the favourite to win the Women’s Royal Rumble Match following her superb victory over SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and RAW Women’s Champion Lynch at Survivor Series last year.

Rumours suggest Baszler will stand tall in Houston and then challenge The Man to a fight at WrestleMania for the RAW women’s division’s premier title.
Lynch launched a savage attack on The Queen of Spades after their match at Survivor Series hinting that they are not finished with each other.
The fact that The Irish Lass Kicker also ended the undefeated streak of Baszler’s close friend Rousey last year would also add some more tension to their feud.
The third main event that could be decided would be between two former UFC rivals Cain Velasquez and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar.
- Tyson Fury teases WWE WrestleMania clash against Brock Lesnar
The MMA heroes locked horns at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Halloween in a match that saw Lesnar making Velasquez tap out and avenging his loss at UFC 121 in 2010.
The Beast then put together a savage assault against Velasquez with a steel chair which made it look like they still have unfinished business.
If Lesnar wins the Men’s Royal Rumble Match then he could challenge El Padrino to a rematch at WrestleMania.
But the fight could also be booked with Velasquez returning to action and either winning the Rumble or just eliminating The Conqueror.
