"You’ve still got it!" Shawn Michaels stuns fans with superb WWE return

Shawn Michaels wrestled his first match in eight years at WWE Crown Jewel – and he didn’t disappoint.

The Hall of Fame superstar made his comeback in a tag team match alongside his good friend Triple H as they faced off against The Undertaker and Kane in Saudi Arabia.

Michaels hasn’t featured in the ring for more than eight years having originally retired after losing a bout to the Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 in April 2010.

But while some fans were divided about his decision to return to action – and its location at the controversial Crown Jewel event – The Showstopper made an incredible impression.

While showing some clear signs of ring-rust early on, the 56-year-old well and truly rolled back the years with his efforts and a superlative display.

He nailed some trademark spots, including a top rope moonsault that saw him take out both of his opponents, while also inadvertently landing on his face, causing some damage.

HHH also looked to have sustained an injury, leaving the veteran performer with the unenviable task of carrying the bulk of the match, which he did with tremendous aplomb, delivering a decisive Sweet Chin Music on Kane in the closing stages.

While all of the combatants are now part-time wrestlers to say the least, it was arguably Shawn who looked in the best shape, especially when considering who may be able to prolong their career any further.

In fact, it wouldn’t even be the first time that Mr WrestleMania, from San Antonio, Texas, has defied the odds to make a sensational comeback to the squared circle.

He looked to have suffered a career-ending back injury in 1998, but returned and had some of the best matches of his career post-2002, ironically including a SummerSlam bout versus Triple H.

For his part, the Heartbreak Kid has made no comment about whether this will be anything more than a one-off return.

But could we be set to see him wind up for one last run?

On the evidence of this showing in Riyadh, he is more than capable of wowing fans once again.
