Horse racing punter pockets over £77k from £3 bet with two three-figure winners

A racing punter has pocketed £77,000 from a £3 bet that included two massive outsiders.

A William Hill customer’s Lucky 15 bet included winners at 150-1 and 125-1 on the same card at Lingfield on Tuesday. At the bigger price, Ask Her Out triumphed first before Theyseekhimthere claimed a narrow victory. The winning bet also included Celtic Art at 18-1.

The only selection not to win was the bet’s shortage price at 5-1 as Mister Who finished second. The 20p win bet cost £3 and was put on at a William Hill shop in Manchester, with the punter scooping a total of £77,215.80.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “One of our customers in Manchester must be delighted that it's the jumps season, having correctly predicted three winners at Lingfield in a remarkable Lucky 15.

“The 150-1 shot Ask Her Out set the bet up nicely, followed by Celtic Art winning at 18-1 and 125-1 shot Theyseekhimthere scoring by a neck. The ridiculous bet has netted them £77,215.80 and it's certainly been a Tuesday they won't forget.”

Had the 5-1 shot Mister Who come in, the punter would have scooper a massive £594,562. Meanwhile, had the double of Ask Her Out and Theyseekhimthere been backed on its own, the odds would have been a monumental 19,025-1. Ask Her Out, owned by Richard Rowe, was making her racecourse debut but defied her odds with a victory under Tabitha Worsley.

"Unfortunately I didn't have a bet on her, but she'd never have won if I had my fiver on her!" joked Rowe, reported the Racing Post. "We genuinely thought she could run well, but I never gave a moment's thought that she'd have a winning chance.

"That'll help sell her as I tried to do it half-heartedly in the yard, but she was working nicely and I felt I had to let her race. Hopefully people will definitely want a bit of her to own now."
