Max Verstappen gets his wish over F1 rule as FIA announce Qatar GP changes

Max Verstappen’s demands for changes to be made ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix have been granted after the FIA announced a series of modifications just hours before the F1 Sprint on Saturday. The Red Bull star is set to be crowned champion this weekend but the Dutchman has been focused on persuading the sport’s governing body to amend their regulations at the Lusail International Circuit, and now the FIA have granted his wishes.

The 26-year-old needs only three points this weekend to wrap up his third consecutive world title, but the Dutchman is keen to ensure that F1 remains a competitive and enjoyable sport in the meantime.

Verstappen echoed calls from Red Bull’s special advisor Helmut Marko that changes needed to be made to how track limits infractions were judged after several drivers had lap times deleted in Friday’s qualifying session.

And it appears the FIA have listened to the feedback from Verstappen, in addition to a host of other drivers, following criticism of the stewards’ heavy-handed approach to track limits around the windy Lusail circuit.
