Gabriel Martinelli capped off a memorable evening by celebrating with his dad, Joao, after Arsenal’s last-gasp 4-3 victory at Luton on Tuesday night.

Martinelli opened the scoring at Kenilworth Road in the 20th minute, but Gabriel Osho brought Luton level five minutes later and the hosts twice went in front through Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley either side of a Gabriel Jesus equaliser.

Arsenal hit back through Kai Havertz on the hour mark, before Declan Rice popped up to head home a 97th-minute winner, sparking jubilant scenes in the away end.

As the final whistle blew, Martinelli spotted his dad in the crowd and went to celebrate with him as Mikel Arteta’s men moved five points clear at the top of the table.

Posting a video on social media of himself with his father, Martinelli wrote: ‘A goal and a last minute winner with your dad in the away end? Perfect.’

Martinelli was seen embracing his dad before posing for pictures with him alongside a host of delighted Gunners fans.

Martinelli’s dad certainly picked a good match to attend as Arsenal left it late before sealing all three points.

Scoring vital late goals has become a habit for the north London club this season, as they have now netted winners inside the final 10 minutes against Manchester United, Manchester City, Brentford and Luton, while they also needed an 84th-minute goal to earn a point at Chelsea in October.

Martinelli’s first-half strike was his second league goal of the season to go with the two he has scored in the Champions League to help Arsenal progress to the knockout stages of the competition.

It remains to be seen whether Martinelli Sr will be in attendance for Arsenal’s next game when they travel to high-flying Aston Villa on Saturday.

Martinelli has fond memories of Villa Park after scoring deep into added time on his last visit there to round off a 4-2 victory for Arsenal back in February.
