Neymar to make over £100million without kicking ball because of mega Saudi deal

Neymar will pocket an incredible £100million without kicking a ball during his long injury layoff.

The Brazilian superstar, 31, has undergone surgery after suffering a serious knee injury while on international duty against Uruguay last month. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward was in tears as he was carried off the field on a stretcher in Montevideo before his club, Al-Hilal, revealed the extent of the damage.

They said: “The medical tests Neymar underwent confirmed the Anterior Cruciate Ligament and Meniscus tear injury in his knee, he will be going through surgery and then a treatment program that will be determined later.”

Neymar then shared a picture from his hospital bed which read: “Thank you Lord! Everything is alright… now, strength and patience in recovery.”

He has been ruled out for 10 months, meaning his season is over, although it is hoped he will be available for next year’s Copa America, which will be held in the United States. Neymar will at least be able to console himself with his massive wages, which total £129million per year, a staggering £2.5million a week.

That means, during his 10 months out, he will rake in around £107.5million. However, he still isn’t quite the top earner in the Saudi Pro League. Neymar is down in third place behind Karim Benzema (£3.3million per week) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£3.4million).

Prior to his injury, Neymar had played just five games for Al-Hilal, scoring one goal. The club does at least boast an impressive squad which includes former Premier League stars Aleksandar Mitrovic, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Neves.

They are coping superbly in their star player’s absence as they sit top of table with an unbeaten record, four points clear of Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
