Football fans can look forward to even more live action when the Premier League’s new TV rights contract begins in 2025.
After the tendering process, Sky Sports secured four of the five packages – 215 games per season – with TNT Sports netting the other package of 52 games from the beginning of the 2025/26 season. Amazon, who show 20 matches per season under the league’s current deal, elected not to bid for any of the new packages, which run through to the end of the 2028/29 season.
The Premier League said the value of the agreements being announced, which also cover non-live rights like Match of the Day, was £6.7billion, the largest sports media rights deal in UK history.

Prime Video is available as part of the Amazon Prime membership, which costs £8.99 per month or £95 annually for an individual.
The membership gives access to all the perks of Amazon Prime (including free Premium and Same- Day Delivery in selected residential postcodes, and other benefits) plus the full library of content available through Prime Video.
Prime also offers a discounted membership, Prime Student for higher education students.
You can also sign-up for Prime Video on its own for £5.99 per month, however, you won’t get the other benefits that come with Prime — like free One-Day Delivery and Same-Day Delivery on eligible orders and fast grocery delivery and pickup.

The current live TV deal, which runs through to 2024/25, is around worth £5billion over a three-year cycle. Sky’s deal means it will screen up to 100 matches a season more than it currently does. Basically, any game that doesn’t kick-off at 3pm on a Saturday will be shown live. So how will weekends look when the deal starts? Here’s a rundown…
Friday nights: An occasional treat at the moment but expect to see more of them on Sky Sports.

Saturday lunchtime: This was the one weekend package TNT Sports hung onto. While Sky will get first choice at weekends, there’ll still be the odd juicy game in this slot.
Saturday 3pm: The blackout remains, but with more matches being played at other times of weekend, there could be precious few of these. It’ll likely to be the home of the matches the TV companies don’t care about.
Saturday evening: That will remain in Sky’s hands.

Sunday 2pm: This slot has become a free-for-all. It will be particularly busy after midweek European action when matches are shunted to Sunday.
Sunday 4.30pm. The flagship late afternoon slot remains the domain of Sky’s Super Sunday.
Monday: Like Fridays, Sky will have control of this slot.
Midweeks: With Amazon out of the picture, these have been mashed up between Sky (three rounds) and TNT (two rounds).
