Liverpool could swoop for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes if they are priced out of signing Jude Bellingham.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been repeatedly touted as the perfect destination for the Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder. He is one of the hottest properties in world football, who has been linked with Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and many more.
However, the Merseysiders’ chances of signing Bellingham are said to have decreased rapidly as several reports suggest the purported £130million price tag will be too much for them. If that is the case, then Liverpool may turn their mind to other alternatives.

According to TeamTalk, the Reds are courting Nunes for a possible move in the summer. Liverpool’s midfield has been routinely slammed as being too old and nowhere near mobile enough to cope with Klopp’s high pressing, ‘heavy metal’ football.
A regeneration is expected to take place in the middle of the park in Anfield and Bellingham was widely predicted to be at the heart of it. But with Liverpool struggling in their bid to finish in the top four and Real Madrid appearing to emerge as the favourites for his signature, Nunes is one target who has been uttered in the same breath as the Reds.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has also been linked with a move, due to the fact he will enter the final year of his contract next summer. The England international has also been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City, who are believed to be admirers of his work.
Meanwhile, Nunes’ reputation has also grown rapidly ever since his £38m move to Wolves last summer. The Portuguese midfielder arrived in the Midlands as the club’s record signing, but he is justifying every penny they paid.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are understood to be holding out for around £50m for the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder. While this is still a hefty investment, it is significantly cheaper than the figures attached to England star Bellingham.
Nunes has 11 caps for Portugal, two of which came in last year’s World Cup for the 2016 European champions.
