Prince Naseem’s son Aadam Hamed launched his boxing career with a dominant first round stoppage on Saturday.
The 23-year-old super-welterweight was pitted against 17-year-old Vojtech Hrdy in Poland. But Hrdy, who had baffled fans with his considerably slender frame at the weigh-ins, offered no resistance whatsoever.
He initially sought to evade the talented Naseem by dancing in circles around the ring until his opponent’s superior footwork and jab saw him cornered within minutes of the opening bell.
Before long, Hrdy was eating a barrage of ferocious punches from the featherweight legend’s son without so much as a counter-punch or head movement. And the Pole’s corner finally decided to throw in the towel as he sank to the floor, though they did not even manage that.

Hrdy’s corner clumsily chucked the towel but missed – instead hitting the corner post. They finally got the towel into the ring at the second attempt as the referee ended the bout.
For viewers at home, the gaffe marked a clear gulf between the two competitors, both in terms of skill and their respective trainers. And many took to social media to poke fun at the hilarious moment following a fight which many deemed should not have even taken place.

One Twitter user wrote: “Poor kid. As if the coach missed the ring with towel ffs,” while another tweeted: “Nah the trainer even missed the f***ing ring throwing the towel in. Give me my money back.”
A third fan commented: “Highlight of the evening was the penultimate fight. The opponent’s corner being so s*** they missed the ring when they tried to throw the towel in.”
Others mocked the scenes by adding: “How'd you throw a towel in and miss the ring?” and “The greatest sporting achievement during that fight was when the other lad’s trainer threw the towel in and missed the ring.”
