Drake loses ANOTHER big bet as he misses out on a £738,000 payout after Israel Adesanya’s shock middleweight title loss to Sean Strickland… a month after the musician lost £200,000 from betting on Nate Diaz to beat Jake Paul
- Sean Strickland stunned the MMA world by defeating Israel Adesanya
- The American won via unanimous decision to claim the world middleweight title
- Drake had staked a £430,000 bet on Adesanya to defeat Strickland on Saturday
Drake has suffered another big betting loss after Sean Strickland’s shocking victory over Israel Adesanya at UFC 293.
Strickland pulled off one of the biggest upsets in MMA history to win the UFC middleweight title via unanimous decision.
All three judges scored it 49-46 for the American, who clearly won the first round by dropping his opponent and managed to continually pressure his rival and land big shots as the fight went on.
And Drake – who has become notorious for his high-stakes sports bets – had shared a bet slip on his Instagram on Saturday that showed he risk £430,000 on Adesanya to beat Strickland by knockout.
Adesanya’s shocking defeat though meant he missed out on a giant £738,000 payout.

The result is the latest betting defeat for the Canadian in what has become known as the ‘Drake Curse’.
Just last month he placed a £196,000 bet on Nate Diaz to defeat Jake Paul, only for the YouTuber-turned-boxer to pick up an unanimous decision victory in a hard fought contest in Dallas, Texas.
If Diaz had beat ‘The Problem Child’ then he would have won around £784,000.
Drake probably backed Diaz after previously placing a bet on Paul to defeat Tommy Fury earlier this year.
On that occasions he staked £313,000 on the American who lost via split-decision to Fury.

This also marks the second time that he has lost money on backing UFC star Adesanya – who is also a long-time friend of the musician.
Drake lost £1.7m after backing Adesanya to beat Brazilian Alex Pereira in October last year.
On that occasion Pereira took a second round TKO victory over Adesanya, although the latter got his revenge with a knockout win in April this year to reclaim the middleweight title.
Meanwhile in December, he lost £784,000 after betting on Argentina to beat France in normal time in the World Cup final.
Strickland, after his victory over Adesanya said: ‘Am I f**king dreaming? Am I going to wake up? Someone hit me!
‘I don’t cry much but I’m trying to keep my s**t together right now.’
