Khamzat Chimaev has revealed he will have to undergo surgery on his right hand, but does not plan on being sidelined for long.

The undefeated UFC star recently came through against Kamaru Usman, winning by decision at UFC 294 but tearing a ligament in his hand in the process.

While addressing fans on a live stream, the Chechen-born Swede said: ‘I’m going to do surgery, [an] operation in one, two weeks, after that [I’ll] do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.

Like many fighters, Chimaev is desperate to feature on next year’s historic UFC 300 card, which is expected to take place in April.

When asked about it, he said: ‘Tell Dana White, make that happen.’

Chimaev wants Dana White to put him on the historic UFC 300 card taking place next year

Chimaev was originally supposed to face Paulo Costa in Abu Dhabi before the Brazilian withdrew due to an infected elbow.

Usman took the fight on short notice, moving up to middleweight to face the fearsome wrestler.

After Chimaev dominated the first round and threatened with submissions, it became a more even affair with some fans claiming ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ would have won if the fight was five rounds.

That said, Chimaev came through with another victory and put his name in the frame among the top contenders for a title shot.

Dricus du Plessis will have the next chance at challenging for Sean Strickland’s belt on January 21 at UFC 297.

So it would be a swift turnaround for either man to face Chimaev at UFC 300, if indeed that is the plan.

‘Borz’ has a number of options, however, providing he can cut down to welterweight again having missed the mark badly last year prior to his scheduled fight with Nate Diaz.

In the end he defeated Kevin Holland with ease before backing it up with his win over Usman.
