NASCAR Truck driver Nick Sanchez was left bloodied and was forced to be restrained after an altercation with fellow driver Matt Crafton at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday afternoon. The pair came to blows after a crash which involved the two drivers during the race.
The incident occurred after Sanchez attempted to climb to the front of the NASCAR Truck pack and slammed into Crafton on lap 93. The nose of Sanchez’s truck hit into the middle of his competitor’s vehicle, causing him to spin off the track.
Several other trucks were also involved in the collision causing the red flag to be shown. Crafton’s race ended there, seeing him finish in 24th place.
Sanchez went on to end the race in seventh, finishing three points off the playoff cutline ahead of the Homestead-Miami Speedway elimination race next in the final race of the round of eight. However, he also ended the day with a cut face after a scuffle in the garage area.
Footage via Frontstretch showed the aftermath of the altercation where a furious Sanchez can be seen being restrained while covered in blood. The driver is heard shouting: “I’m gonna f***ing kill you in Homestead! You f***ed with the wrong guy mother****er.”
After the fight Sanchez addressed the incident to reporters. “I was walking back to the hauler, tap on my back, got punched in the face,” he said sporting a nasty cut above his eye.
“Cheap shot, but it is what it is, I guess. I’m all for fighting, but no cheap shots. He got a cheap shot, [I] didn’t really have a chance to get him back.”

Before the fight Sanchez revealed what caused the crash earlier in the race. “I was doing my best to stay tight on the bottom lane,” Sanchez said. “Tried to go get split three-wide.
“We came up off of [turn] 2, I went to the top lane and I held my line, came back down. I tried to get out of there, but I got him in the left rear a little bit, but that’s plate racing, trying to hold my position to protect myself.”
The pair will next be in action at the Homestead-Miami Speedway elimination race for the Baptist Health 200 on Oct. 21.
