The European swing is over for the season now as the F1 circus touches down in Singapore this week. The Marina Bay Street Circuit has become a staple on the season’s calendar after becoming the first night-time race in F1 history back in 2008.
Last year’s race threw up plenty of drama as Sergio Perez pulled off one of the greatest wins of his career. The 2022 Singapore Grand Prix was delayed due to torrential rain and featured multiple safety cars with Perez passing Charles Leclerc into Turn 1 on the opening lap.
In contrast, it’s been a track Verstappen has struggled to get much joy on in his career. He’s finished on the podium just twice and could only manage seventh last year despite having won the previous five races leading up to the Grand Prix.
There’s some hope from Mercedes this week that they could be closer to challenging the Red Bulls this week to end their perfect record. Verstappen is on an unprecedented streak of winning 10 Grands Prix in a row.
