Lewis Hamilton commits to Mercedes until 2025
There is now just one week before the F1 returns with the Singapore Grand Prix as Max Verstappen and Red Bull will look to continue their domination on the track, but the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will hope that the chasing pack can gain some speed on the current leader, having had a free weekend to work on their cars.
Hamilton recently put to bed all the contract speculation surrounding himself, as the Brit penned a new deal with Mercedes and committed himself to the Silver Arrows after months of negotiations, he will be desperate to be back fighting at the top of the grid once again.
The seven-time world champion has recently been forced to respond to Sir Jackie Stewart’s insult of suggesting that he is not in the right place mentally to fight for titles anymore. While there has even been talk of Hamilton’s first championship being stripped as a result of Felipe Massa’s legal challenge.
Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok had a scary escape after his car caught on fire at Goodwood, but fortunately he managed to escape without sustaining any major injuries.

Russell: ‘Red Bull dominance is a shame’
Mercedes driver George Russell has admitted that it is a “shame” that F1 continues to be dominated by one team in Red Bull.
Either Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez have won every single race so far this season and while Russell did not want to downplay their achievements, he admitted hoping for more competitive parity.
“I think for probably 25 years now, there’s always been a team that has dominated during a certain period so it is definitely a bit of a shame,” Russell told PlanetF1.
“You can’t take it away from Red Bull, they’re obviously doing an amazing job and you need to give them credit for that.
“But as I said, it’s a shame because the fight for second at the moment between us, McLaren, Aston and Ferrari is actually really exciting. So I don’t know how you achieve that in the sport but that’s the goal for sure.

Mercedes eye Hamilton successor
Mercedes are reportedly making moves to secure their long-term replacement for Lewis Hamilton.
Despite the Brit recently signing a new contract, the Silver Arrows will continue to keep a watchful eye over the sport’s young and promising starlets.
According to Joe Saward, 17-year-old prodigy Andrea Kimi Antonelli is set to be handed a seat in F2 by Mercedes for the 2024 season.
He will skip F3 completely and has been earmarked to take over from Hamilton if all goes to plan in 2026.
