The draft order
Please note this order could change during the draft if picks are traded or used to make a match a bid for academy or father-son players.
Hawks welcome Chol
As we get ready to add a heap of new, young guns to AFL lists over the next two nights, it’s worth remembering that preseason training has already started at some clubs, including Hawthorn.
The Hawks put out pictures of recruit Mabior Chol in his new colours – we will see plenty more players in fresh jumpers by the end of the evening.

Daniel Curtin and a big trade call from Greater Western Sydney are set to shape tomorrow night’s AFL draft, which promises to be an unpredictable affair.
West Coast would love to pair No.1 pick-elect Harley Reid with top local prospect Daniel Curtin, but the Crows are one rival sniffing around the key defender now he is tumbling down the order.

Good evening
G’day everyone and welcome to our AFL draft 2023 live blog as we begin this year’s two-night extravaganza with the first round of selections tonight.
I’m Roy Ward and I’ll be tapping away as we work through each team’s selections and we see the future of all 18 teams.
There should be around five minutes between each pick and we will see a mix of compensation picks and, potentially, some pick trades as the evening plays out.
Victoria’s Harley Reid looks set to be the number one pick with West Coast holding that selection as we head into the draft, after that things should get interesting if teams start bidding for some of the richly talented Queenslanders led by forward Jed Walter.
Whatever happens, we plan to bring you the best possible coverage with our AFL draft guru Marc McGowan leading the way along with the timeless analysis of veteran footy journalist Michael Gleeson.
The draft is scheduled to begin at 7pm AEDT. Enjoy the evening to come.
