Rugby World Cup LIVE – Knocked out nation ‘hoodwinked’ in embarrassing saga

The remaining eight nations left in the Rugby World Cup are getting their final preparations in over the next few days as the knockout stages get underway this weekend. World Rugby have come under fire with four of the top five ranked countries facing off against each other in the quarter-finals.

It means only two of the best sides in the world can make it through to the semi-finals. England have benefitted from the lopsided draw as they’re seen as the favourites in their quarter-final clash against Fiji.

But Steve Borthwick will want a much better show from his side than the one they put in against Samoa in their final pool match. Ireland and France are still seen as the favourites to win the competition, but both face difficult matches against New Zealand and South Africa respectively.

Wales will also be in for a difficult test against Argentina with Warren Gatland’s side winning the last meeting between the two sides nearly a year ago.
