Bolton striker Dion Charles was left red faced after missing a chance from just a few yards out against Portsmouth.
With nearly half of the League One season already done, Portsmouth and Bolton sat first and second heading into the game at Fratton Park. And it was Pompey who emerged from the clash with all three points, with goals from Conor Shaughnessy and Kusini Yengi sealing a 2-0 win for John Mousinho's side.
However, the contest could have turned out very different had Charles found the back of the net on 28 minutes. A ball into the box saw Bolton striker Jón Daði Böðvarsson's headed effort saved by Portsmouth's Will Norris, who could only palm the ball into the path of Charles.

With the goal at his mercy, Charles looked as though he was about to wheel away in celebration by opening the scoring at Fratton Park. But, instead of firing home his first time effort, he was instantly met with jeers from Portsmouth fans, who witnessed the Bolton forward side foot wide.
So glaring was the miss from the 28-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 18 appearances this season for Bolton, the striker immediately put his hands on his head, shocked to have seen he had fired wide.
