Chelsea have been backed to win the Premier League title in as early as two years. However, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan says Mauricio Pochettino will not be the manager to do it.
Chelsea have spent over £1billion on new signings in the last three transfer windows. Todd Boehly bought the club in May 2022 and has well and truly imprinted his stamp on the market.
The Blues have had three permanent managers in that time, with Pochettino the latest appointment. The Argentine arrived in the summer and was backed considerably by his new owner.
But aside from a promising run of results before the recent international break, it hasn’t been a good start for Pochettino. Chelsea currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League with four defeats from their opening 10 matches.

Jordan has no doubt that Boehly’s tactics on the market will work eventually. However, he cannot see Pochettino being the man to lead Chelsea back to the top.
Jordan told talkSPORT: “They’re not trying to screw around, they’ve spent a lot of money. This is one of the downsides of people having a lot of money, whether it’s theirs or someone else’s, and not having a lot of footballing intelligence and paying way too much money for players.
“But there is no doubt about it, Chelsea will get there. It is about how quickly they get there and whether Pochettino is going to take them.
“I have never felt Pochettino will win them the Premier League. I thought he would get them to a point where they operate in the top four.

“But that is not Chelsea’s blueprint. Right now at this moment in time, even that argument looks unsustainable because they are not great. They are not anywhere near what we think they should be and what they could be.”
Chelsea last won the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge in 2017. They finished in a lowly 12th last term and are already 14 points behind first-placed Tottenham this season.
But Jordan believes their next title could be as near as two years away. He added: “But the bottom line is that Chelsea will get there, they will get there, believe me they’ll get there. Chelsea will win the Premier League under Todd Boehly before the next two or three years.”
