Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was spotted back at the club as he cheered on their women’s team in a Champions League tie against Paris Saint Germain.

The Spaniard’s contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of last season and is yet to find a new club despite several links to Saudi Arabia and Spanish sides.

De Gea returned to the UK on Monday and is spending a few days sorting out the house in Hale where he lived until leaving United after 12 years in June.

The 32-year-old took the time to show his support to Man United’s women’s team at the Leigh Sports Village.

Man United were facing PSG in their Women’s Champions League qualifier, as the club seek to reach the group stage.

The match is Man United’s first in the competition, after they finished second in the Women’s Super League last season.

As runners-up, the Red Devils enter the Champions League at the second qualifying round stage, one before the group phase.

De Gea also showed his support to the team on Instagram, writing ‘Let’s go!!!’ on a video clip of the team warming up for the match.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been based at his family home in Madrid since leaving Man United, joining  is pop star partner Edurne Garcia and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Yanay at the family home in Madrid. The couple got married in Menorca last summer.

Some United fans have mischievously noted that De Gea remains a free agent amid Andre Onana’s difficult start to life at Old Trafford.

De Gea – who turns 33 next month – is understood to be relaxed over his future as he enjoys some well-earned family time, and is not rushing to find a new club.

That may change in January but after spending his last four years at Old Trafford earning £375,000-a-week, he can afford to bide his time.
